Swimmer Trapped by Beach balls..............

A man got  a nasty surprise when he tried to get out of his deckchair and found his testicles had come stuck between two slats of wood. Mario Visnjic had  been swimming naked off a beach in Croatia and his testicles had shrunk in the cool sea. When he sat back down they had slipped  throught the slats, as he lay in the sun they had expanded back to their usual size...He was freed after a call to beach maintenance on his mobile phone and they sent a member of staff to cut the deckchair in half.  :o  :thud: poor guy !!

Its a scary world we live in Wolfie. Just seems its all you hear, people getting murdered. I hate to sound like an old bag here but the kids are out of control !

What does society expect when they take control away from parents, teachers and police (hmmm well the last one is debatable tho) ?

Kids need discipline. I truly believe that they feel cared for and know what their roles in life are if they have it from an early age. It doesnt have to be stifling, just firm and things nipped in the bud at early stages before coming to this. All the mamby pambying isnt doing anybody any good.

I say, bring back the Borstals. I also think that national service could work, altho I dont think they should be sent to war, but 2 years in the training camps gaining some kind of skill could help a lot of kids. I just think alot of them lack direction in life.

Wolfie that is so tragic about the goth couple.  :(

FLIPPER LIVES AGAIN.......................

Moko the dolphin
Moko is well known locally for playing with swimmers in the bay

Moko the dolphin
A dolphin has come to the rescue of two whales which had become stranded on a beach in New Zealand.

Conservation officer Malcolm Smith told the BBC that he and a group of other people had tried in vain for an hour and a half to get the whales to sea.

The pygmy sperm whales had repeatedly beached, and both they and the humans were tired and set to give up, he said.

But then the dolphin appeared, communicated with the whales, and led them to safety.

The bottlenose dolphin, called Moko by local residents, is well known for playing with swimmers off Mahia beach on the east coast of the North Island.

Malcolm Smith
Mr Smith said he gave the dolphin a pat to say thank you
Mr Smith said that just when his team was flagging, the dolphin showed up and made straight for them.

"I don't speak whale and I don't speak dolphin," Mr Smith told the BBC, "but there was obviously something that went on because the two whales changed their attitude from being quite distressed to following the dolphin quite willingly and directly along the beach and straight out to sea."

He added: "The dolphin did what we had failed to do. It was all over in a matter of minutes."

Back at play

Mr Smith said he felt fortunate to have witnessed the extraordinary event, and was delighted for the whales, as in the past he has had to put down animals which have become beached.

He said that the whales have not been seen since, but that the dolphin had returned to its usual practice of playing with swimmers in the bay.

"I shouldn't do this I know, we are meant to remain scientific," Mr Smith said, "but I actually went into the water with the dolphin and gave it a pat afterwards because she really did save the day."

Oh my god, CP it seems like some of the kids nowadays seem to have no respect for other people at all or fear for any of their actions , that is desperatly sad. It is impossible to tell sometimes how somebody will turn out aint it !
Doug also told me that on the news a Gothic couple ( Teenagers ) were battered to death by a gang just for the way they looked, This has to stop now.The news said it was just fueled by hatred and all I can say is you don't get goth kids causing havoc kicking the neds to death. It's all so sad.

BUMP!!

Local News.....

I was shocked when Jake told me this morning. It turns out that a murder that took place over New Year in Marske was committed by a lad in the close we used to live in. Yes, he was a tearaway but I never thought that he would be capable of kicking someone to death. My business landlord was a friend of the victim and he was well known and liked around here. He was out walking his dog in the early hours when he was assualted by the drunken pair.

ANTS IN YOUR PANTS..........VIVA THE REVOLUTION  :hugs:
Antagonism rife in the ant world
A wood ant is seen above a globule of resin
Anti-social behaviour was revealed by DNA fingerprinting of ant colonies
Ants are renowned for their ability to work together, and put the good of the community ahead of personal concerns.

But new research suggests that their colonies are actually hotbeds of devious, selfish and corrupt behaviour.

And it is the royal family - or male ants carrying a so-called "royal" gene - that are largely to blame.

Scientists have discovered that some males pass the gene on selectively, to ensure that their offspring become reproductive queens, not mere workers.

The research, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, used DNA fingerprinting on five colonies of leaf-cutting ants.

The rarity of the royal lines is actually an evolutionary strategy by the cheats, to escape suppression by the altruistic masses that they exploit
Dr Bill Hughes, Leeds University

This revealed that a larvae's chances of becoming queen depended largely on who its father was.

Previously scientists were adamant that the species was a model of democracy and social co-operation.

It had been thought that nurture was the driving force in selecting royalty - some larvae were fed certain foods to prompt their development into queens.

But now it seems those who have been passed the royal gene have an unfair advantage over the rest.

Dr Bill Hughes, from the University of Leeds, who led the research, said: "The core principle of social societies is they should be egalitarian. We've found this isn't always the case, and that some of the males are cheating. There is a genetic influence on royalty."

Industrious wood ants on a nest
Genes will help decide whether these ants are royals, or workers

The royal genetic lines are rare in each colony, leading the scientists to think that the ants cunningly spread their sperm around different colonies, so that the unfair advantage to their offspring is not spotted.

If too many larvae became queens, the imbalance could be noticed by the "commoner" worker ants, who might then turn on their leaders.

"When studying social insects like ants and bees," said Dr Hughes, "it's often the co-operative aspect of their society that first stands out."

"However, when you look more deeply, you can see there is conflict and cheating - and obviously human society is also a prime example of this. It was thought ants were an exception, but our genetic analysis has shown that their society is also rife with corruption - and it's royal corruption at that."

Todays news........ :o

An 82-year-old Argentine woman who attracted media attention last month when she married a 24-year-old man has died as a result of heart problems.

Adelfa Volpes was admitted to hospital soon after she and her new husband, Reinaldo Waveqche, returned from their honeymoon in Brazil.

She died in a sanatorium in Santa Fe, the city where the couple were married.

Ms Volpes had rejected criticism over the age difference with the groom, who is the son of one of her best friends.

"I don't want to resign myself to the idea that I lost her," a disconsolate Mr Waveqche told EFE news agency.

The couple were married on 28 September in a civil service after several years of engagement, and later walked through a local church surrounded by reporters.

Their love is said to have blossomed when Mr Waveqche went to live with his future bride after his mother's death, when he was 15.
