I know that putting on emollients is important, but after a while I scratch or rub it all off, or it becomes so uncomfortable that I need to get it off anyway. Is this the same with everyone or do you put up with it?

Ditto me.  That's why I apply my gunk, sparingly, after my shower.  I just hate the greasy feeling of it on my skin but its better than the alternative which is paper dry skin.  We really can't win eh?

Hi Cajun-Junkie, can I get Gold Bond in the UK..? I have checked out http://www.skintreat.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=STC&Product_Code=goldbondantiitch, and it looks like its available from the USA.

Something similar I have tried for the itching side of it is Mopiko, anyone else tried this?

I love Gold Bond! it is fantastic stuff, and works when nothing else will for me! it makes my skin baby soft, and keeps me from itching!

I have hears that vit e oil is good , but I have never tried it. I hope it helps you Lun .

someone told me about using vitamin e oil. anyone had any experience with this? i have it on my face right now. it doesn't itch or anything - so far!!!

50/50 is good for me too but it's just so greasy isn't it!

I think Diprobase used to work ok for me, but now it makes it worse. I tried Epaderm, but it itches after a while and I scratch it all off. Doublebase is not strong enough, and recently I tried that 50/50 paraffin stuff which seems ok. Aveeno used to work but my skin seems to get used to whatever I try quite quickly!
Like for everyone, its just so awkward!

Sam (MY 14year old) gets Unguentum Merk which must be the same thing and he likes that.

I use Eucerin (10% Urea), which is fab, and I got after a elongated battle with my GP because of its cost and usually used for atopic eczema (not licensed my a***!  ), something called Unguentum M which is great for my face (couldnt use it whilst on PUVA), and still get Diprobase.  All are available on prescription in the UK.

I am also a big fan of vaseline, and I am allergic to Epiderm as well

I have tried loads.  Doublebase and Epiderm both made my skin worse.  Finally the derm did some patch tests and after the results my moisturiser and all my topcial steroids had to be changed. The only moisturiser I did not react badly to was liquid soft paraffin in white soft paraffin.  It's a bit greasy but at least I know it's safe for me to use.

I am now using Aqueous cream with 0.5 of menthol.  Cools the skin down lovely.

I have used Aveeno and Diprobase, also DoubleBase, and Epiderm, Epiderm makes it worse for some reason. The others all kind of work.
I bought something called Tetrasil off the 'net, it has that jojoba oil and also silver oxide, I think it also kind of worked but it was 15quid for a small tube.....

aveeno all the way. lately i've discovered jojoba oil for my eczema, it's been working tiny miracles for my hands.

 Me and moisturizer have to stay away from each other. It just makes my seb derm act up.

i like plain vaseline at night, but i also love adding oats to my bath with oilatum, and then when i come out of the bath i love to use baby oil it really helps my eczema.
